The Shadow Throne

By Jennifer A. Nielsen
AR
RL 5.6
PTS 12.0

This is the last book in the Ascendance Trilogy. The story follows Jaron on his last adventure at winning the war against Avenia. With so many countries against Cathy, will Jaron save his tiny kingdom from this invasion? When Jaron found that his friend Imogen has been captured by King Vargan of Avenia, he embarks on a daring rescue mission, undertaking a death-defying journey to save everything and everyone he loves. Even with his quit wit, he may lose someone he loves. The only thing that matters in the end is who will sit on the Shadow Throne. You should read The False Prince and The Runaway King before reading The Shadow Throne. This series is for readers who enjoy action, adventure, wars, and a bit of romance.

The Rose Society

By Marie Lu

There once was a girl named Adelina Amoteru who had a father, a prince, and a society of friends. . . But they betrayed her and now it is her turn to get revenge! Feared as "The White Wolf," Adelina and her sister, Violetta, set out in hopes of finding "The Young Elites," to strike down the "Inquisitor Axis." With her powers being fed on fear and hate, Adelina is no heroine. To make matters worse, her powers have grown out of her control. Adelina struggles to hang on to the little bit of good that is still within her. How can someone be good when their very essence is darkness?  This is the second installment in the "Young Elites" series - it would be best to read "Young Elites" before reading this book! If you like characters with with special powers and abilities, this series is worth checking out. I would recommend this book to people who like action and adventure, with a hint of romance. Once upon a time, someone comes back and reveals her true self.
