The Shadow Throne

By Jennifer A. Nielsen
AR
RL 5.6
PTS 12.0

This is the last book in the Ascendance Trilogy. The story follows Jaron on his last adventure at winning the war against Avenia. With so many countries against Cathy, will Jaron save his tiny kingdom from this invasion? When Jaron found that his friend Imogen has been captured by King Vargan of Avenia, he embarks on a daring rescue mission, undertaking a death-defying journey to save everything and everyone he loves. Even with his quit wit, he may lose someone he loves. The only thing that matters in the end is who will sit on the Shadow Throne. You should read The False Prince and The Runaway King before reading The Shadow Throne. This series is for readers who enjoy action, adventure, wars, and a bit of romance.

Reached

By Ally Condie

AR
RL 4.6
PTS 16.0

Chapter's rotate between Ky, Cassia, and Xander's point of view. Everything is in place for the Rising's takeover and this trio is a part of them. Xander works in the commons alongside medics as an official. Cassie works as an undercover sorter in central and trades with architects in her spare time to exchange messages with Ky. This is because Ky is an air force pilot and on base in the command. The war is finally over! The plague was released to the public and only the Rising has the cure, they had it in central for while... until they didn't. I would recommend this to people who love romance. This is the third and final book in the romance trilogy Matched (book one is Matched and book 2 is Crossed). If you are into rebellion, dystopian societies, and adventure books, you should read this series. This last book tells you who Cassia chooses and id there is any hope left for Xander.

Tuesdays at the Castle

By Jessica Day George

AR
RL 5.8
PTS 8.0

Celie is the princess of the Glower Castle. It might seem that it's just an ordinary castle, but the castle that  but the castle adds new rooms, tunnels, and sometimes entire wings all by itself. The castle usually makes these changes on Tuesdays, which is why Tuesday is Celie's favorite day, of course only she takes the time to record all of the castle's twists and turns. After their parents (the queen and king) and brother disappeared, a group of counselors "advise" their brother (the new king) Rolf. A lot of things are happening to the castle and Celie doesn't know what to do. Will Celie have time to make things right before it's too late? I would recommend this book to people who like kingdoms, fantasy, and castles. If you like Hogwarts and Howl's Moving  Castle then you are going to love this! This is a really good book to read when you don't have anything to do. It is a very subtle and easy book to read, so you won't really get confused too much.

Magisterium: The Iron Trial

By Holly Black & Cassandra Clare

AR
RL 5.6
PTS 13.0

All of his life, Callum Hunt has had a hurt leg and hasn't known who he is. This 12-year old boy is very different, he wants to fail the only chance he has at getting an apprenticeship at the magical school, Magisterium. All his life, his father told him to stay away from magic, but even though he gets a really bad score, he was still selected by the best mage in the school, Master Rufus. He usually feels like an outsider because of his injured leg, but he has never felt like he belonged more than at this school. He knows that he is unlike all the other apprentices, for he has a dark past, that he doesn't even know about. What is this past that will greatly affect his future? I would recommend this book to people who like action, adventure, and magic. This book will be really loved by people who like fantasy. The Magisterium is a bit like Hogwarts, although they are very different the plots and stories are still very similar. The main character will have to choose, this is a matter of life and death, you will find out that Call is. . . .

The Infinite Sea

By Rick Yancey

AR
RL 4.7
PTS 11.0

After Cassie Sullivan and her friends survived the harsh four waves from The Others, they are all trying to survive the destructive, murderous fifth wave. They only have two options to survive: one option is to wait for Mr. Evan Walker to return while trying to survive injuries in the harsh, cold temperatures of winter; or set out to find a better shelter than a hotel and to find other survivors. There will be lies told, hearts broken, suffering, and lastly killing. This group of survivors will know the difference between life and death, hope and despair, and most of all love and hate. I would recommend this book to people who liked the first book, "The 5th Wave." This is the second book of the 5th Wave, so you do need to read the first book before reading this one. There are more secrets that you will learn while reading this book. You just have to read it to find those secrets off! You will finish this book the same day you get it!

The 5th Wave

By Rick Yancey
AR
RL 4.6
PTS 17.0

After the 4th Wave Cassie knows one rule only: "Trust No One."  Cassie thought that staying alone is the best way to survive since the "Others" came.  Yet the 5th Wave is coming.  Cassie couldn't find her brother and she doesn't know what the 5th Wave will be.  Then she meets handsome, charming Evan Walker, who took care of her for weeks after she was injured.  Evan could be the only one who can help her rescue her brother, but then Cassie would have to trust him.  There's just one thing that he's not telling her. . . but, why?  I would recommend this book to people who like sic-fi and romance.  The book is divided into eight parts.  It still has chapters, but it's written differently.  You might think you know what they're going to do or say, but you don't!  It will surprise you on how well written this plot is--you will not want to put it down and you'll want to finish this book TODAY!!!

Legend

By Marie Lu

AR
RL 4.8
PTS 11.0

Day is a very well-known teen-aged criminal.  Although he never killed anyone, the government still wants him.  June is a teenage prodigy.  She is the only one to get a perfect score on her trial of 1500.  After her brother was supposed to be killed by Day, it is her mission to track Day down.  Day is struggling to keep himself together because his little brother is sick.  Most people believe Day is dead.  Only one person knows he's alive.  When Day and June meet, they do not know what's heading their way!  I would recommend this book to readers who enjoy action and romance.  Also, in each chapter you read from a different characters point-of-view--this might be a little confusing at first, but you will get it!  This book is similar to the book, "The Testing."  You can not imagine how Day and June meet!!!

Independent Study

By Joelle Charbonneau

AR
RL 5.8
PTS 14.0

Thanks to the government-issued memory wipe for the brutal "Testing," Cia is very eager to start on her studies at the University.  With her fellow champions (including her boyfriend, Tomas) they first took a written test to see which studies they will get in.  Tomas wanted to get in to Biological Engineering, which he got.  Cia wanted Mechanical Engineering, but got Government (her very last study choice). She thought that the Testing was over, but it is just starting!!!. . . I would recommend this to people who liked the Hunger Games Trilogy, as it is very much like it.  You always want to read every single page, as the experts say, "It's a page turner!!"  You will uncover secrets, including that someone special to Cia will. . .

The Testing

By Joelle Charbonneau
AR
RL 5.6
PTS 15.0

Cia Vale is honored to be selected as a testing candidate.  The night that Cia was ready to leave for the testing, her father told her to "trust NO ONE."  Cia trusts her childhood friend, Tomas, who doesn't care about passing the grueling and deadly test.  Tomas cares about Cia more than that.  Cia thought she knew everything about the testing, but that's about to change. . . I would recommend this book to people who like The Hunger Games trilogy.  It has action, romance, and the "being selected" vibe to it.  Also, in each test, people may die! If you like romance and action, you will love this book!

The catch is his father might not be his father and his adoptive father may be hived.  Is his whole life a lie?  I definitely recommend this book if you love suspense, action, and mystery.
