The Hunger Games

By Suzanne Collins

Do you think your life is hard? If so, try Katniss Everdeen's.  Her father was killed in an explosion, she became the head of the house at age eleven, she walks the streets of poverty filled District 12 and hunts illegally in the woods.  When Reaping Day comes, however, she must use her survival skills to the max as she volunteers for the Hunger Games to save her sister.  She is forced into a twenty-four person death match for the amusement of their rulers, the Capitol.  While inside the games, she struggles with feelings of hopelessness, love, bleakness, and most importantly, thoughts of survival.

Cathcing Fire

By Suzanne Collins

A handful of poison berries.  Some flowers.  The only tools Katniss Everdeen needs to undermine the Capitol's authority.  A visit from the Capitol's leader confirms her suspicion--she was the spark that set the abused district citizens on fire.  Can she settle the rebels before she is punished?  Can she reverse all damage done to the integrity of the Capitol?  And most importantly, can she forget her nightmares and lead a happy life?
