Independent Study

By Joelle Charbonneau

AR
RL 5.8
PTS 14.0

Thanks to the government-issued memory wipe for the brutal "Testing," Cia is very eager to start on her studies at the University.  With her fellow champions (including her boyfriend, Tomas) they first took a written test to see which studies they will get in.  Tomas wanted to get in to Biological Engineering, which he got.  Cia wanted Mechanical Engineering, but got Government (her very last study choice). She thought that the Testing was over, but it is just starting!!!. . . I would recommend this to people who liked the Hunger Games Trilogy, as it is very much like it.  You always want to read every single page, as the experts say, "It's a page turner!!"  You will uncover secrets, including that someone special to Cia will. . .

PTS 6.0

Story of a Girl is the story of Deanna.  This book takes you into the distressing life of Deanna Lambert.  She is forced to spend her days being judged for a mistake she made when she was thirteen.  Now she must focus on her present and not be distracted by the past that comes to haunt her.  This book is for the ones who like learning about people's issues and like putting themselves in their shoes.

I Can't Keep My Own Secrets

By Teens Famous and Obscure

No AR

This book has many short stories--each one only 6-words! Some are about how people lost friends and family.  Some tell about what is going on in the persons' lives, or if they had a bad day.  If you choose to read this book for fun, just know that it does not have an AR quiz.

The Name of the Star: Shades of London Book I

By Maureen Johnson

AR
RL 4.9
PTS 14.0

Teenager, Rory Deveaux, arrives in London to go to a boarding school.  As she lands in London, brutal murders begin, each murder mimicking Jack-the-Ripper.  When Rory goes to a crime scene, she encounters a creepy man who begins to stalk her.  She believes he is the Ripper and she is his new victim.  I recommend this book to people who like books about the supernatural, murder, and mystery.  Also to people who like London, boarding schools, and a little bit of romance and humor.
