The Warrior Heir

By Cinda Williams Chima
AR
RL 5.3
PTS 17.0

How would you feel if one day you turned into an over-powered warrior with an epic sword?  It sounds crazy, but that's exactly what Jack Swift went through.  Two factions are hunting for him to fight as a gladiator, and all Jack wants to do is live normally.  Through wizards, swords, ghosts, and councils, Jack certainly goes on a wild ride!  I recommend this book for anyone who enjoys a good ol' fantasy, wizards and warriors book.

The False Princess

By Eilis O'Neal
AR
RL 5.8
PTS 15.0

The False Princess is about a girl who was replaced by a real princess.  On her 16th birthday, she was supposed to be killed.  Sinda (the "false princess") finds out that she has special powers that she must learn to control before she is provoked.  I would recommend this book to students who like to read about wizards, princesses, false romance, and special powers.

Rush for the Gold

By John Feinstein
AR
RL 5.5
PTS 11.0

A girl named Susan Carol gets into the Olympics, which is her wildest dream!  The only problem is her dad doesn't understand that her "owners" are total jerks.  Plus if she wins gold, he will be signed for another year.  Will she win gold?  Will her best friend be disqualified?  Will she be disqualified? Read this book if you want to find out the answers to these questions and many others.  I would recommend this book to people who love mystery and a little bit of action and romance.

The Rise of Nine

By Pittacus Lore
AR
RL 4.8
PTS 14.0

Sam has been captured by the Mogadorians and is likely being tortured.  John and Nine, a new found member of the Loric Garde, live the high life in Chicago, and Six, Seven, and Ten look for Eight.  The Mogadorian leader Setrakus Ra comes to Earth and allies with an unlikely force.  The Mogadorians gain numbers, and the Garde develop their powers.  Who will win?  I’d suggest this book to anyone who enjoyed any of the other Lorien legacy books.  This is the third book in the series, so I suggest reading the others first.

The Power of Six

By Pittacus Lore
AR
RL 5.3
PTS 14.0

Sam, Six, and John are currently on the run from both the United States military, and the Mogadorians.  Since Four and Six are together, the charm is broken, leaving them defenseless to the Mogadorians.  Six runs off to Europe to find the others, and Sam and John go to a Mogadorian cave to recover Loric chests.  The page-turning thrills will keep you dying to find out who survives.  I recommend this book to anyone who enjoyed its prequel, “I am Number Four.”  I highly suggest that you do not read this until you read “I am Number Four.”

I am Number Four

By Pittacus Lore
AR
RL 4.4
PTS 14.0

Earth is not the only life sustaining planet.  In fact, there are many, such a Lorien and Mogadore.  But on these other advanced planets, war is not limited to respective planets, it is planet versus planet.  Mogadore is hungry for expansion and they’ve hijacked the prospering Lorien to save themselves.  They killed the entire Lorien race save seven Garde defenders with magic powers, and their Cepan, their guardians with Loric knowledge.  They flee to Earth and Mogadorians follow them there.  Can they reclaim their home, or will they die trying?  I would recommend this to sci-fi or fantasy lovers.  I would also recommend this to Rick Riordan fans, as the writing has lots of random humor.

Eona

By Alison Goodman
AR
RL 5.4
PTS 25.0

The emperor is dead, his heir is in hiding.  The Royal Palace has been demolished in a savage coup, and there are whispers of a female Dragon-Eye, Eona.  Read the thrilling sequel to Eon, that will shock you with its plot turns, betrayals, and romances.  Will Eona be able to harness her dragon power and save the empire, or is that the lesser of two problems?  I recommend this book to anyone who read Eon, as it’s the sequel.  I suggest that you don’t read this book until you read Eon.

Eon

By Alison Goodman
AR
RL 5.5
PTS 21.0

In an ancient Asian-based universe, women are deemed less important than men, and thus are unable to become holders of “dragon power.”  Every two years, one of the twelve dragons ascend, and choose a candidate.  Eon’s master plays a dangerous game by sending him, a lame boy, as a candidate.  It’s not about the crippled leg, it’s the fact that Eon, is a girl.  I would recommend this book to anyone who enjoys romance, fantasy, and, of course, dragons.  I feel the writing style was similar to the Inheritance Cycle, so if you liked those books, you may like this as well.
